I'm thinking of doing Rin kagamine, because she's awesome....buuuuuuut so many people dress as vocaloids that I wouldn't really stand out....not good....
PROS:
~popular/more pictures taken
~more people to do photoshoots with
CONS:
~look like everyone else
any thoughts???
I was thinking of possibly doing Gumi (she's a vocaloid, but she isn't as popular as miku or rin)

I'm not too familiar with the characters you mention, but to me the more unique costumes/characters are more fun to see and photograph than those who look like everyone else :)
Me, personally, I'm a bit shy so I don't like to stand out :P Last year I just wore the basic "random furry" outfit - fox ears, fox tail and dark clothes, which is probably what I'll do this year, too.
But, if you are planning on doing any of the photoshoots or want to be part of a larger cosplay group, dressing as a more unique character would probably be your best bet!

That is an excellent point, though I may or may not just end up doing Rin just because I already have like 85% of her costume complete and for gumi i have.....uhh, nothing yet... >.<" who knows, i still have 6 months, i may change my mind yet again...I was thinking of maybe doing haruhi suzumiya...are you familiar with her?

The only one confirmed for me right now is Hazama from Blazblue.
I want to get Leia from Tales of Xillia and Kokonoe who is also from Blazblue as well done by then.
My two back-up cosplays are Dawn from Pokemon and Minato from Persona 3, if those end up not working out.

*giggle* i know!! and i might get a wing and white boots to do fem prussia and maybe a stuff yellow bird plush!

I am for sure going to do Rin Kagamine, because I have most of her costume...I also want to do some form of Haruhi Suzumiya (haven't decided which outfit), and I am more than likely going to have a table in the AA (trying at least) and their I will be wearing a homemade Sailor uniform(kinda like my uniform for the booth) the twist on that, is that the uniform will me made mostly or completely of duct tape :3 (already have the collar made!!)
