This is my first stab at storywriting in a while other than RPG. Don't know how far I'll take this one, but I'll try to keep the story going regularly as I get ideas. Much love, Verde.
Gary thumped his pen on the clipboard he held in his hands. It had been a long night, and he wasn’t exactly ready to begin the new workday. Then again, was he ever? As an intern at Carrolton Community Hospital, Gary thought a job offer from there would be a dream come true. However, the dream was very short-lived. A change in administration sent the hospital in a new direction. Now instead of a healthcare center for the community, the town of Carrolton now had another nicely run business. The system seemed to work fine—call a number, write a prescription, then move on to the next person. It appeared to be an efficient method, but Gary felt it was all too impersonal.
He should’ve left a long time ago. Unfortunately, necessity called for him to play along with the new rules. It wasn’t easy for a relatively fresh out of med school doctor to get a transfer, and with student loans to pay off, anywhere that offered work looked pretty inviting.

The pager clipped on Gary's belt began to buzz. Apparently it didn't matter that he was already in the middle of something. I guess the people in charge don't really care that Mrs. Ford is only just now in stable condition. Gary let his annoyance show as he stalked by the nurse's station to grab the next clipboard. He checked the name at the top of it then scanned down through the other information. Gary's frustration turned to shock when he entered the exam room.
Gary recognised the man sitting on the table, Jeremy. He had been here several times before, but today je looked worse than the other times. Jeremy was incredibly pale, as if he were about to pass out! Why did they sned him here intead of taking him to the ER? Gary fumed over the question as he flipped through the pages on the clipboard. Pretty soon he figured out what was going on. Jeremy's insurance was running out and wouldn't cover the costs of another trip to the ER. With no other funds to pay for it and no rich uncles suddenly appearing out of nowhere, the people in admissions decided to send him to Gary. What do they want me to do? Give him a pill and tell him to take it easy? Gary silently fumed as he worked to see what he could do. He couldn't wait until his shift was over.

It didn't take long for Jeremy to realize that nothing was going to happen. Sure they were probably going to tell him to take some time off work, rest up, then come back later when he was sick all over again. This never-ending cycle was getting old. Jeremy had seen this doctor one too many times with no results, and he knew this time wasn't going to be any different. Too tired to argue, Jeremy internalized his aggravation while the doctors and nurses buzzed around him. He allowed whatever business the doctor was up to as he drifted in and out of conciousness.
