I've been doing a lot with wigs lately- searching for the right one, purchasing them, styling them, dying them....Anyway, I just wanted to post my resources on the forums. For reference, ALL of the work I've done and the resources I'm posting pertain to synthetic wigs.
Amphigory http://www.amphigory.com/ I've been very pleased with the products. Good quality, cheap shipping, great selection.
Designer Wigs and Color Wigs http://stores.ebay.com/Designer-Wigs-and-Color-Wigs Not the best organized store but they have a lot of wigs in "party colors". They're based in China so the shipping is expensive but the wigs are very low priced. The first time I ordered, the color of the wig was not accurate to the color shown online HOWEVER these guys are great with customer service. They exchanged the wig for a new color and even updated the page of the particular wig online to better show and describe the color.
Katie Bair's Petting Zoo Wigs http://www.pettingzoowigs.com/wigs.html Great resource. The forums have lots of tutorials and suggestions. The website also creates custom wigs (not many character wigs- check the site for details) and sells wig supplies including synthetic wig dye. The wig dye is kind of expensive (really expensive if you don't make any money period- which was me through the entirety of college) but it's worth it for a short length wig to get the color you want rather than experimenting with other methods.
Sith Vixen's Wig Dying Tutorial http://www.sithvixen.com/tutorials/DyingWigs.pdf I've seen two widely accepted ways of dying wigs- buying Katie Bair's wig dye or trying The Sharpie Method. Sith Vixen is the only good tutorial I've seen for the Sharpie Method. Most people will tell you to start coloring. This is a much less painful approach.
I used two purple sharpies and two 16 oz bottles of 70% isopropyl alcohol on a white wig. Mixed the dye in a big pot and dipped the wig instead of spraying (which is the method of applying for both Katie Bair's and Sith Vixen's sharpie method). Here's my results. The lighting was weird but the actual color is in between that of the two pictures. It's the perfect color for Lucky Star's Kagami and Tsukasa. Attached Image:

That's what I've got. Anyone else have some good resources?

I've had trouble with Cosworx. They didn't have the different colors and and style I wanted in stock. I've only tried to order once though. Have you ordered from them before?
