A town has been plagued with the deaths of teenagers for months now. All of them found in their homes brutally murdered found stabbed to death, and found with their bodies chilling messages left by the killer. All of them reading how that victim was guilty and deserved the death that fell upon them. One thing all of the victims are seeming to have in common is their rank in the social circles at school, all of them popular well liked people there. The police are baffled as to who would commit these grizly acts of violence. The only possible piece of a clue to the killings is how they started after an assault on a young girl named Krista who also attends the college plauged with teh murders. The crime scene's themselves there are no traces of evidence nothing the killer has left behind. Time is against the authorities as the killer now steps up his pace of slaughter. Can they find out who the killer is and why he is commiting such crimes?

Jesse's sudden response startled Krista and she stood frozen watching him being yanked away towards a door. Another court officer touched her on the shoulder and asked if she was okay. Krista blinked and looked at the kind looking man. "Yeah, I'm okay, just glad that it is over."

Outside, thankfully the media frenzy was focused on Jesse. Krista watched from the top of the steps as he was put into the back of the car. She closed her eyes and when she opened them again, the car and Jesse were gone. She hoped it would be that easy to erase all this from her memory.

Krista walked briskly to the parking lot and got into her waiting car. It was time to leave, to disappear, to start again with a new life in a new place. She pulled out into traffic and never looked back.

He looked into Krista's eyes but none of the warmness he used to have for her remained within him, and the anger within him now breaks free for a moment as she says that she is sorry. He angrily and coldy anwsers her back, "No,no your not. Not yet". Jesse is yanked away by the bailiffs and taken out of the courthouse, the nmumerous media stand outside the courthouse, the tv cameras and the photographers snapping shots of him as he is escorted into the back of a police car. Inside his mind he already began to work on his plan, his work was not done yet not by a longshot. Slowly turned his head towards the group of the reporters then returns to his eyes to staring at the floor of the veichile.

Oh Krista would pay for what she did to him and for betraying him, Oh would she ever pay for it................

Krista had taken a seat away from most of the victims' families. They were not that fond of her, not much more than they were affectionate toward Jesse. The verdict was still ringing in her ears when the courtroom roared to life in protest of the court's sentencing decision. Part of her was relieved that he was not going to be executed. Yes, she had been the one to almost kill him, but that was only in self defense. As a rule, she was completely against the death penalty. Deep down, she really hoped that even though Jesse would be incarcerated, that he might be able to get some help.

The bailiffs began to lead Jesse away. Krista pushed her way through the crowd of people milling around the court room, lingering to gloat over their partial victory. She wanted, needed to talk to Jesse, just for a moment. She had to do it now before she walked away and closed the door on Jesse and this part of her life for good.

After practically pleading with the one of the bailiffs, they allowed her to lean over the railing. Krista looked deep into his dark eyes and it nearly crushed her to see the emptiness. She reached out and placed her hand gently on his cheek. "I'm sorry. I really am."

He continued to sit there throughout the course of the trial, his mind far from paying attention to what was being said by the attorneys. Finally after what seemed like an eternity the jury came back into the room with their verdict set. The judge himself now comes back into the room causing Jesse and his attorney along with everyone else in the room to rise then sit back down. A bailiff hands the papers containing the jury's verdict then hands it back to the speaker for the jury. "Jurors have you reached a verdict?". The speaker from the jury now stands and anwers, "We have your honor". "What say you?". "We the jury find the defendant Jesse Wells on the account of 11 murders in the first degree........Guilty." The families of the victims claimed by Jesse now begin to cry with tears of joy but the speaker was not finished with his sentence, "But we also find the defendant not mentally competent to be sentenced to death". This causing an outrage among those victim's families, accompanied with the judge slamming his mallot down several times calling for order. One person in the crowd speaks up, "He should be shot for killing my child". Jesse's eyes only slightly move to the side at the yelling of that comment.

The judge speaks again, "Members of the Jury you are dismissed and thank you for your service in this trial". The jury leaves as he continued to sit there his eyes still locked upon his mask. "Will the defendant please rise". Jesse and his attorney rose again, his eyes still not looking at the judge; "Jesse Wells as you have been deemed not mentally competent to go to death row, I hear by sentence you to life in Smithgrove Sanitarium without the possibility of early parole". The gavel slams down again, and the judge rises and leaves the room. The bailiffs now take hold of him by the arms leading him out of the room past the still remaining crowd of people in the room. A single thought enters his mind as he is being led away "There is always a way".

Krista walked up and down the high ceiling-ed corridor in the courthouse, anxiously. Jesse's defense attorney had asked her a few brief questions about his personality over the past weeks, but not much more than that. She had answered as best as she could. The Jesse that she has known for so long was warm and playful. She didn't know the cold and silent man that sat at the defense table. When his attorney pressed her for any indication of personality changes she remembered that brief moment in the police station where she had seen something in Jesse that was much darker, but it had vanished moments later.

Now she was waiting to be allowed back in for a verdict or if the trial was going to continue the next day. Murder trials could go on for weeks, but everyone she talked to seemed to be rather confident that this was going to be a really easy case to try and win. So that meant, she spent the afternoon waiting and watching. Finally the ADA came out and told her that closing arguments had been given and the jury was deliberating.

A baliff stepped out of the courtroom. "Ms. Offner, the jury is back." Krista took a deep breath and let it out. Well, this was it. She followed the ADA back into the courtroom and sat down in the front row.

Jesse sat there not looking at his former best friend, his mind far from being focused on what was happening infront of him in the courtroom. His expression still dark and blank his eyes locked onto the table he sat at. But hearing Krista refer to him as her friend in the past tense did sting he couldn't deny that at all; his attorney now rose from his chair to begin his questions for Krista. "Ms. Jordan where you at all aware during the time after the incident at the art exibit that Jesse was angry or more specifically his mental state was changing?". Slowly his his eyes look upward at Krista, the tenderness and warmth in them she used to love was long gone from within them, the only thing that showed now was pain and the slightest trace of the anger he was fighting to keep down from within.

Two bailiffs now enter the room brining evidence into the room for the next part of the prosecutor's plan for the trial. The white ghoulish mask is set down onto the table, along with his knife now encased in a plastic evidence bag; the blood still on the blade from when he had killed the girl and his own blood still remained from when Krista had stabbed him that same night. The black eyes of the mask drawing his gaze now as he stared into them, oh how he longed to pull it back over his face once again and satisfy the anger welling up within him. But no was not the time he reminded himself, his eyes continued to stare at the mask on the table as the trial continued. He knew that Krista would be back in the room for the sentencing at least he would get one last look at her before he went away for awhile.

Krista was escorted into the courtroom when her name was called for her testimony. She could feel all the eyes in the room boring into her, especially one set of eyes. She couldn't draw the strength to look over at the defendant table. She walked as calmly as she could over to the witness stand. The bailiff swore her in and she took the seat next to the judge. Nervously, she rubbed her hands on her pin strip pants. The ADA had gone over her testimony over and over again with her and did trial prep, but the real thing with Jesse sitting across the room made her incredibly uneasy.

"Ms. Jordan," the prosecutor began, snapping Krista back to the present. "You have know the defendant, Jesse Wells, for sometime. Is that correct?" Krista nodded, keeping her eyes locked on the prosecutor's."I have known Jesse for most of my life." "So, you would say that in that time you two have become very close?" Krista nodded again, "yes, Jesse was my best friend."

The ADA walked over the to prosecution table, flipped over some notes and then turned back to face Krista. "Could you please relate to the court the events that occurred on the evening of xx/xx/xxxx?" Krista took a deep breath and gave the quickest summary of the night of her assault and the vandalism of her gallery. She had told it so many times since its occurrence, but it wasn't just a storyline for her. She relived it each time and she desperately wanted to leave it all behind. The ADA nodded sympathetically and continued with her questions. "I'm am very sorry that happened to you. Could you please tell the court, who it was who discovered you in the gallery that night?" "It was Jesse, I think. He is the only person I remember." "Thank you, Ms Jordan. Now during your stay at the hospital while you recovered and even after you were released, who was it that stayed with you?" "Jesse - he never left my side."

The older woman smiled encouragingly at Krista, letting her know what a great job Krista had been doing, but all she felt like was that she was twisting the knife that she had already plunged into Jesse's back. "Ms. Jordan, I have here a copy of the police report of that incident. Could you please read to the court the names that are given for your assailants and those responsible for the destruction to you art?" Krista took the report and read off the names. Each name matching up to the list of victims' names the ADA had given in opening arguments. "Now, could you please tell the court were those students ever prosecuted for their violent crime?"

Krista stared down at her pants and didn't look back up when she answered. "No." She could tell by the change in the prosecutor's tone, that Krista's answer was exactly what was needed. "According to what you have said, those students who beat you savagely and destroyed hours upon hours of your hard work, got away without even so much as a slap on the wrist. Jesse Wells, your closest friend, the one who held your hand the whole way, saw first hand, the injustice that was shown to you. He saw and felt your pain and there was absolutely no retribution given!

"OBJECTION! The prosecution is giving testimony and the question calls for speculation on Ms. Jordan's part!" The ADA put her hand up in compliance. "Let me ask this way. Ms. Jordan, did you at any time convey to the defendant, Jesse Wells, that you were unhappy with the lack of punishment and desired that they be punished?"[/i] Krista closed her eyes, unable to look at anyone in that courtroom. "Yes. I was angry and I vented to my best friend my frustration and anger." She opened her eyes and in a voice that was almost pleading, "but I never, ever once said I wanted them dead, just that it was unfair!"

The prosecutor returned to her chair behind the table. "Thank you, Ms. Jordan, that is all." The judge looked at the defense table. "Do you have any questions for this witness?"

The chains securing the shackles around his wrists, and ankles echo loudly through the halls of the courthouse. His expression blank but dark as he no longer felt much of anything, save for the anger still lurking in the back of his mind along with what he would one day do with it. Now enters the courtroom his eyes keeping to the floor, he could hear the whispers from those gathered in the crowd and the jury box watching him; the bailiffs march him towards a table iwth his state appointed lawyer. He knew they where going to send him to be locked up in the damn hospital for the rest of his days. Slowly he is gently pushed into the chair and the bailiffs secure his chains to the chair but allowing him enough slack to stand. During the meetings with his attorney he never said a word as he did not care what happened here at the trial, reluctantly his eyes look up meeting the numerous gazes of those in attendance for the trial.

It was when he saw Krista coming into the room that he felt the anger slowly creep from the dark corner of his mind, but he kept it in check now was not the time to give into it that would come all too soon enough. The judge is announced as he slowly stands from his chair then sits back down. The judge looks briefly at a stack of paper's infront of him then looks at him and asks, "Jesse Wells you stand charged with 11 murders in the first degree how do you plea?". His public defender now rose from his seat as he replied "Your honor we would like to at this time move for a plea of insanity, my client has not said a word since he was taken into custody nor as per the staff at Smithgrove Sanitarium relay there has been no response from him at all during his incarceration there".

The prosecutor began to make his case with the jurors and the judge, "Your honor, ladies and gentleman of the jury the man the sits before you today is a cold blooded murderer pure and simple. He may claim that he is insane which he very well may be but killing eleven innocent people in cold blood is something that not even insanity should be allowed to get away with."

:: Krista Jordan ::

It was early on Saturday morning when Officer Posey dropped Krista off at her apartment. She headed straight for her bedroom without even bothering to see if Emma was home. She didn't care - just wanted a shower and sleep. Her intention was to take a shower before sleeping, but she never made it to the bathroom. Exhaustion overwhelmed her as soon as she sat down on her bed.

The phone rang several times, Krista vaguely remembered, while she had slept, but now the red letters and numbers on bedside clock blazed 6:52pm Sunday. Krista stretched. She had slept nearly two days straight. She looked down her body and realized that she hadn't even taken off the loaned clothes from the police station. She got up, took a quick hot shower, and pulled on some jeans and a t-shirt. She plopped down on the couch in the living room and turned on the TV. She wasn't surprised to see that the top news story was the murders on campus, but it felt odd to watch thew footage of police cars and ambulances outside the art building while a news anchor chatted away in front of the chaos.

The next week the campus was oddly quiet. Krista went to her classes, but was only vaguely aware of the people around her. It was like her world has lots its color. She had skipped her art classes all together. Every time she tried to go, she couldn't make herself go up the steps of the building. She finally gave up trying about half way through the week. It was time to find a new direction in life. She was through with painting - it had done enough damage already.

Krista picked up her mail and flipped through it while she sat at a corner table in the school's coffee shop. Most of it was junk, credit card applications and such, but a couple stood out. One had no return address so she was surprised when it was from a well-known tattoo artist asking if she still wanted to be an apprentice. She had inquired over a year ago, but was turned down. Krista thought about it for a moment as she put the letter back in the envelope. Taking the job meant moving away and dropping out school, but this was the kind of change she needed. She called him and set it all up to work out the details.

Another letter in the pile caught her eye. She ripped open the envelope, pulling out the folded paper. A check fell to the table as she unfolded the letter. It was a check from the school and when she looked at the amount she almost choked on her coffee. She looked at the letter for some explanation. It was from the Director of the art department. He explained that all the events that had occurred with the murders and the events surrounding the exhibit had gained it some infamy. The entire exhibit had been bought as one piece and the enclosed check was her percentage of the sell. Krista looked at the check again. Well, that solved how she was going to move.

With everything worked out, Krista was working on packing up the last vestiges of her life on campus. She had already moved most of her stuff to her new apartment, closer to her apprenticeship, and withdrawn from school. There was no one really to say goodbye to so when she was done, she loaded the last boxes into her car. She was surprised though to see Darla Offner crossing the parking lot in Krista's direction. "Hi," she said, approaching with her hand extended. Krista took it. "Hi."

She looked in the direction of the packed car and then back to Krista. "I know it has been awhile, but I am going to need your help. I am not sure if you are aware or not, but we are going to go ahead and take Jesse Wells to trial." Krista eyes grew wide. "How are you going to try him if he's dead?" Surprise crossed the other woman's features and then softened. "I'm sorry Krista, I thought you were aware that he was alive and has been incarcerated at the hospital for the criminally insane. I am really sorry for you to hear about it this way, but we are going to need you to testify."

The first day of Jesse's trial was finally here. Krista's stomach was in knots as she drove to the court house. She had been doing well in her apprenticeship and didn't want to take a break to come back and dig up ghosts. She pulled into the parking lot and looked up at the courthouse's massive front. Her stomach lurched as she climbed the steps and walked into the building. She was minutes away from seeing Jesse for the first time since the night of the second gallery opening, since she had stabbed him.

-Jesse Wells-

He barely heard the police burst into the room and take Krista away, he no less barely felt them put him on a stretcher and haul him away in a an ambulance tearing out of the campus. The drugs kicking in now causing the pain to go away as the paramedic began to attend to him inside the cab of the ambulance, his eyes glazy looked over to find a cop accompanying him to the hospital. As he finally succumbed to the elements in his system, the last few thoughts enter his mind; Krista had ripped the mask from his face and stabbed him nearly to death tonight. The look on her face would forever haunt his memory now but now his blood work would not end until one more person was claimed.

The ambulance pulls into the ER of the nearby hosptial, dragging him out of the cab and into the operating room as they began to close and repair the damage done to him by the knife Krista had stabbed him repeatedly with. Slowly the daylight began to creep into the sky as the next day comes, and another type of veichile pulls into the ER. This one reading Sanitarium on the side of the cab. Jesse is wheeled outside handcuffed to the gurney he was on, anger starting to well up within him as he thought about Krista and an image coming to his train of thought as he thought about what she did to him. The white ghoulish mask it's black unforgiging eyes. Finally, he is loaded inside with the two orderlies and the veichile drives off.

As the veichile now pulls into the Sanitarium he mind begins to work on something. A plastic braclet is put on hsi wrist with his name and serial number, and he is driven further down the bright white halls. He could hushed voices as they wheeled him past more orderlies, doctors and other patients. The person behind him wheels him past a security guard office, with the gard who knods writing something down on a clipboard and he moves further down. A door is opened as he is wheeled into a room and finally the door closes and locks behind him.

The door to the studio was flung open and it slammed into the wall. Shouts came from outside from police officers and they began pouring into the tiny studio. Krista did not hear much more than echoes of their voices, but she heard Jesse's last word crystal clear.

Firm hands gripped her arms and pulled her to her feet, but she didn't take her eyes away from Jesse's still body lying in the floor among the shattered glass. Whoever was holding her practically dragged her from the room. She didn't struggle, but it was like her brain was in a bubble and she couldn't make her body work anymore. She was surprised to feel cold steel around her wrists and then she realized that she had just been handcuffed. The officers escorted her outside and put her in the back of a police car. Krista watched out of the back window as they drove away from the art building. The clean white walls were once again washed with flashing red and blue lights.

Krista sat quietly as samples and her fingerprints were taken. She was given a pair of shorts, sweatshirt with __PD on it to change into so they could have her dress for evidence or something like that. She changed and was allowed to clean up a bit before they took her to an interrogation room. They placed her at the table and left her alone, locking the door as they left.

This was now the second time in two days that she had sat in this police station in one of these rooms. Tonight was so much different from the first time. She had been furious for being taken in and questioned. She had been fiery and a smartass, but now she felt like a small child that had just been scolded and was waiting to be punished. Her fingertips barely showed at the cuffs of the large sweatshirt making her feel ever smaller as she examined them.

She killed her best friend tonight, literally stabbed him in the back, several times even. He had called out to her with his dying breath. On the other hand, he had killed so many already in cold blood, all in the name of justice for her. How was she supposed to deal with that? Be appreciative?

Time passed although Krista had no idea how long. It felt like hours that she sat in that room by herself, waiting. Eventually the door opened and that detective from the other day came in. He sat down across the table. He pushed a legal pad and a pen over to her. "Write down what happened and I'll see what I can do." Krista stared at the blank paper and wondered for just a second whether or not she should do it or if she should ask for a lawyer. She picked up the pen and began writing. She didn't care anymore. She just wanted it to be all over. When she had finished, she pushed the pad back over to the cop. He took it, read over it and left the room again.

Maybe ten minutes passed before a woman came in dressed in a business suit. Krista met her eyes as the woman sat down across from her. She extended her hand to Krista, "I'm Darla Offner. I'm the ADA assigned to this unit. I've read your statement and reviewed this case and your case from a couple of months ago. I am really sorry for what you have gone through. I know that is must have been difficult to go through. At this time, we are not going to charge you with any crime. We just have a few things to tie up and then you can go home. I can have officer Posey drive you when we finish up." Krista was shocked and grateful at the same time. She shook Ms. Offner's hand again and mumbled a thank you before she left.

This nightmare was finally coming to a close.

The next series of events seemed to happen in the blur of a second for him. One moment he was trying to make his way out of the darknened studio and then...... His attacker came at him from behind knocking him down to the ground, causing him to lose his grip on his knife. Before he could get back to his feet he felt his own knife come down again and again into his back causing what felt like a burning feeling to come to his senses. The pain was there but strangely distant, the sound of the broken glass crunching causes his eyes behind the mask to look and it was then he saw who his attacker was; it was Krista. Eyes widen slowly behind the mask as felt his body loosing feeling as his blood like the numerous victims he'd claimed begin to flow onto the floor. He wanted to speak but no words would come out, and it was then that Krista took the mask off his face and his secret was revealed to her. His breathing begins to become heavy, as he still tried to speak, his eyes looking at the shock and horror that filled his best friend's.

The white ghoulish mask hit the floor coming to a rest right next to his face, the black eyes now looking into his. More and more feeling is lost within himself as he continued to try and move and speak but nothing was happening. The sounds of the numerous foot steps of the police moving through the building coming right on his heels he could barely hear now. Finally manages to speak one word before his breathing became more heavier, "Krista......". A slight trail of blood slowly creeps away from him across the floor.

:: Krista Jordan ::

Krista wheeled around towards the window at the first bang. It practically made her jump out of her skin as she watched a disembodied black boot make contact with her studio window over and over again until the window finally gave way. Glass showered the table and floor below the window.

To run for the door meant she had to run past the window and the broken glass barefooted. Instead she quickly ducked underneath the table and began crawling underneath towards the window and subsequently the door. She hoped that if it was indeed the killer coming through the window, he wouldn't stop to look around, but instead make a quick exit out of the door.

Her heart was beating wildly as she waited for the tale tale thump of feet stepping on the table above her. A gun shot rang out somewhere outside and a second later, someone was inside the studio with her. In front of her was a man, by her best guess, dressed in black pants and boots. He took a step forward and stopped and that is when Krista saw the knife in his hand. Adrenaline shot through her body. Panic rose like bile. "Oh my god, its my turn now," she thought as she tried to keep herself calm.

She stared at the back of his knees and decided that she wasn't going to go out without a fight, not this time. She got up to a crouch, thankful that her dress had slits up to her thighs on both sides. Without another thought, she launched herself as hard as she could at the back of his legs. They went sprawling across the smooth floor, but he was down. The knife glinted as it skidded out of the man's hand when he hit the floor. Krista scrambled for it and wrapped her hand around the handle. Before she realized what she was doing, she raised it above her head and brought it down, plunging it deeply into the man's back. She pulled it out and did it again and again.

Krista felt the warm blood as it splattered across her face and hands. The broken glass crunched beneath her bare legs and the pain of it biting into her skin brought her back to reality. She looked from the bloody knife to the masked man that she was practically straddled. Shocked at what she had just done, she threw the knife away. It skidded across the floor until it hit the wall.

Outside the door, she barely heard the shouting and the sounds of people running. Inside the darkened studio, silence hung heavily in the air. Krista moved off the masked intruder and crawled towards the door, leaving bloody hand prints and smudges on the floor. She stopped when she has reached his head. He was facing towards her. She reached out, her fingers trying to remove the mask to reveal who it was who had used her as an excuse to ruin so many lives.

A cry escaped her lips as she looked down at the face of her closest friend in all the world. She dropped the mask as if burned her to touch it and she backed away from him as fast as she could. Hot tears began to well up in her eyes. "Oh Jesse, I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" She tried to wipe the blood from her hands as if she could wipe the blood away none this would have happened at all.

-Jesse Wells- (I will gladly change this if it is not liked by either rio or ai jin or it conflicts with what rio may post for her char)

Jesse eyed the pipe as it snaked over the side of the roof, cautiously let go of his hostage as he moved to take a better look. The pipe went down the side of the building but not all the way down to the street it went back into the building near a window. That was his way out, the pouding on the door got louder and it started to give as the police where not giving up. Tucks his knife into the pockets of the jumpsuit as he placed his hands on the pipe and began his climb over the side of the building. The weight of his body heavily anchoring his hands, sweat now dripped off his face inside the mask as he continued to make hsi way down. On the roof the sound of the metal door giving way and the woman's scream reaches his ears causing him to look up, then quicken his pace as best he could. After what seemed like an eternity he reached the side of the window, takes an even more tighter hold of the pipe.

Kicks the window with his black booted right foot, kicks it several more times till finally the glass breaks. It's as he thinks salvation is not far that he hears a voice from above, "THERE HE IS CLIMBING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING, FREEZE!!!!!". Hastily secures his right leg through the window frame and then the rest of him went, as the officer fired a round at him. It was one of the studios in the building, his breathing was heavy behind the mask, takes the knife out of the jumpsuit's pocket, noticing a slight tint of red on it, the blade had cut him slightly. Took a slowl step forward, his feet crunching the broken glass under him, his mind already started to think of what his next move would be. He had to find his next way out of here, the slightest sound of pounding footsteps echoed through the halls, the police where coming.

::Krista Jordan::

"Krista! Krista!" John had taken her by the arms and was shaking her emphatically every time he called her name, trying to snap her out of the semi-catatonic state she had drifted into. Finally, she shifted her eyes to focus on his green ones. Everything was stilled blurred from salty tears. "That's good." He pulled her into a tight hug, but she remained limp in his arms. Around his shoulder, Krista could see cops everywhere, running in several directions, barking into radios and yelling at each other. Slowly, the sounds of the hunt for the murder rose to her ears. It was like someone raising the volume on a TV from mute to the loudest level. Krista squeezed her eyes shut again and tried to cover her ears. She broke away from John's embrace and started to move towards the door of the building. An officer caught her by the arm, "Whoa there! You can't leave." She cried out at the sharp tug. "I need to leave! I can't stay here!" She could feel the panic rising again and she frantically began tugging trying to free herself from his grasp.

It was John and the female cop from before, Officer Posey, who were able to diffuse the situation. The officer restraining Krista let her go and was called to another part of the building. "Krista," the woman began in a smooth calm voice, "you need to stay here. We haven't brought the man into custody yet, so you are safest right here, in this building with us." She looked to her professor who had an arm around Krista's back, in a half embrace and asked if there was somewhere in the building that might be quieter which might be better for Krista while they waited. He suggested any of the offices upstairs or some of the art studios that had doors. Krista spoke up, "Mine. I want to go to mine."

Krista pushed open the door of her studio and was met with the scents of paints, thinners, clays, and wood shavings. Just being in that room with all of those familiar smells calmed her a little. A couple of officers checked out the room first before allowing her in, but with the all clear, she walked in ahead of her professor and Officer Posey. She turned around to face the door. "Can I just be by myself? I will be okay - no where to go, I promise. Can I just have this? " Officer Posey radioed for permission. "Alright, but we are going to be right outside in the hallway. You call us if you need anything. This should be over soon."

Krista shut the door firmly behind them. The room was deathly still and quiet. She looked around at the haphazard mess that she had created over the past year or so. Brushes, pens, and colored pencils were scattered across tables and canvases littered the floor below them. She took a deep breath, held it for a moment, and let it go. She tugged off the heeled boots, leaving them by the door and walked barefooted across the studio. She shuffled some sketches around, just to be doing something with her hands. She felt numb and a little helpless. None of this seemed real anymore.

The ghoulish mask turned sharply to the right then snapped back looking ahead of him as he started down the stairs trying to make his way to the back of the building, but the black eyes of the mask now shift downward as he hears the police coming up the same way. Mentally curses as he starts going further up the stairs, this was not the plan the police had responded all too soon to his kill. "POLICE FREEZE", the words are shouted behind him as he continued to haul up the flights of stairs; his was down to very very few options of what he could do now. Angrily now grabs the handle of the door to the main part of the building where all the guests where, flings the door open as he goes through it, the reactions on people's faces catching sight of his masked face would normally bring a smile to him but not now. Grabs a woman bringing his knife to her throat as he moves with her infront of him. Looks behind him making sure no police could sneak up on him, eyes behind the mask spot another door to gain access to the stairs adn that is where he begins to lead his hostage.

Backs through the door, the woman now looking into the masks black eyes so near to her own in fear, makes it up five stairs before he sees a cop now coming up after them. Soon the one is joined by several, all of them weapons trained but quickly lower as they see he has the knife already tight against the main vein of the woman's neck. Deepened his voice again as he continued to make his way upwards, "Back off or her blood just like the other girl's will stain the ground". Now finds his way up the roof access door, backing through it still keeping a tight hold on his hostage. "Move and I will kill you", harshly utters the words to the frightened woman as he now slid a piece of metal pipe into the door handle. Inside the mind behind the mask he was cursing himself for having allowed himself to be trapped as he was stuck now. He didn't know what to possibly think Krista's reaction could have been to the video feed of him killing the last victim on his list. His eyes frantically looking around the roof for a fire exit ladder or something along those lines, as he kept a tight grip on his hostage' the knife remaining against her throat.

The sounds of more sirens now reach his ears, the feeling of despair now entering his mind. He wasn't going to escape this, and he knew it. But as the desperation grew, it was then he saw something that could possibly get him off the roof. Let go of his hostage as he moved now to examine his find.

Krista was standing at the front of the large crowd, right next to her professor and the art department director who was going to run the auction. Pictures of the first piece went up on the screen and before any words came out of the director's open mouth, the feed changed to a bone chilling scene. Audible gasps went through the crowd. Krista had been watching the crowd and not the screen, but she turned to see what caused such a reaction. The voice coming from the speakers was harsh and the words were even harsher, but somewhere the voice struck a familiar cord in her mind. It was quickly pushed from her mind as soon as her name echoed from the screen followed by the horror of the girl being murdered right there in front of her. Krista's chest began to tighten and she struggled to catch her breath.

Panic shot through the crowd and noise erupted through the crowd as glasses were dropped to the ground and people pushed for the doors. Krista barely registered any of it. She felt hands on her arms and she realized that her legs had buckled underneath her and her professor was preventing her from crashing to the floor. He was saying something to her, but she couldn't hear any of it. The shock of discovering that all these murders had not been a coincidence at all, but really were centered around her, it had seized her whole body. She half stood there staring at the now blank screen replaying the girl's death over and over again in her mind. The message to her echoed so loudly she couldn't hear anything else. "you don't have to live in fear anymore Krista"

Tears ran down her face ruining her carefully applied eye makeup and she was starting to shake so violently that John, her professor was practically bear hugging her to prevent her from slipping from his grip and crashing to the floor. Police lights could be seen through the glass doors, red and blue, cutting through the night. John carried her to a chair and set her gently in it. A young female officer crouched down in front of her and was talking. Krista watched the officer's lips move through watery eyes, but she couldn't hear anything except those words over and over.

Before entering the gallery, Dean had the placed scoped out, eyeing the positioned cops in hiding, as well as undercover agents amongst the large crowd. This would be where it would go down, they had tracked there subject here, and Krista was a concern, mainly for her own safety. The stability of the situation had shifted long ago, when the number count went from one to a half dozen. This was the final stand. After entering, Dean's eyes searched the area, noting that nothing of harm seem to be taking place, or chaos, so he sat back in the crowd, blending in the best he could. It wasn't long of course until he caught sight of Krista and a dress that very befitting her. The image placed a smile on his face, but that soon dropped as the evening had interrupted. There he was, Jesse, not in the room, but in the building somewhere. Fear shook his body at the images, followed by a rush of rage. He hadn't a chance to speak with Krista before he was searching somewhere to turn of the video feed, or find where it was coming from.

"Rob, he's attacked again, at the Gallery." Squawked on Robs side from his radio, as pulls up fast to the back of the building. After seeing no one exiting, him and his partner, and a few gathered crew gather in a rush formation on the door. Checking before entering, SWAT tactics, they enter the building, searching silently, directing hands, Rob dictates them to search the building.

Looked to his captive, seeing her starting to wake up so he needed to begin with his plan. Slid the ghoulish mask over his face once again as he put on the jumpsuit and tugged the black leather gloves snuggly over his hands. Grip tightens on the knife as he hit a button the computer's keyboard with his free hand and went to stand behind his victim, finally the red light came on the camera indicating his image was now up on the main screen intended for the art auction. Purposely eerily moved his masked head in a slanted gesture before he deepened his voice and spoke to the camera. "Good evening to everyone gathered here tonight, now you will bear witness what happens those who hurt others. Brings the blade against the girl's throat, her terrified eyes locked on the white ghoul like masked face over top of her, "This is the one responsible for the crime commited here in this very gallery, that humiliated an innocent person and wrongly humiliated her. She is the last of the guilty to be punished for what she has done. Let this image you are about to witness be the finest art of punishment ever seen by anyone, you don't have to live in fear anymore Krista". Grip tightened the knife as he now looked into the girl's eyes and began.

Now angrily slit the girl's throat digging the knife in and cutting all the way across her neck, the blood now seeping all the way down her chest onto the floor. A feeling of closure enters his mind now as he begins to make his exit out of the building. But the sight of cop cars squealing to a halt outside the building stops him in his tracks as he begins to try and form a alternate plan to escape from the building.

Krista sipped at her drink as she walked slowly through the hall. She was lost in her thoughts when a throat cleared behind her. She turned to see her professor completely decked out in a tux and his arms crossed across his chest. "You call that a formal dress?!" He said after examining her from top to bottom. Krista laughed at the semi-shocked expression that he wore and went over and looped her empty hand through his arm. "Yes, it is a formal dress. It touches the floor and I even wore heels, kinda." They walked together toward the front of gallery. "Alright, I concede this time, but the next time we have an event like this, I am picking the dress." Krista looked at him sideways. "Yeah, John, like I am going to let you pick out my clothes. I want to know who picked out your penguin suit too."

People were beginning to arrive at the Gallery, all glitz and glam, and definitely big names in the art world, as well as many private collectors. Feeling just a bit intimidated, Krista practically stayed glued to John's side who seemed at ease with this type of crowd. He introduced her as the artist and likewise each guest to her by name and association, if they were representing some art group. Krista wondered if he was really just that good with names or if he memorized the guest list beforehand.

The night wore on and even though the excitement level was high and everyone was all smiles, Krista was finding it harder and harder to concentrate on what people were asking or commenting about. Her feet were killing her. She wanted to find somewhere to sit down for a while or maybe talk to someone that she actually knew. Thankfully, the auction would begin soon.

Angrily slaps his gloved hand over the girl's mouth as she tried to scream for help, brings the knife tight against her throat as he deepend his voice to speak to her. "Scream again and it will be the last thing you will do". The girl now trembling under him as he had her pinned, begins to cry softly as he got up walking over to the gym bag he'd brought with him, extracting a cloth and some choloroform. Getting to this girl had been no mere task there was a small police presence outside, but it had been too dark for them to see him getting into the house through the window and the security system inside the home was disarmed. Soaks the rag as he placed it over the strugglign girls mouth, after a few moments she goes limp as the drug kicks in.

Wraps up her arms and her legs with the duct tape he had brought with him, draping the girl over his shoulder as he made his way out picking up his bag as he left. Crouches going out the window he came in, takes a look back as he could barely get a glimpse of the police veichiles through the thick trees that surrounded the house. Silently makes his way back to where he had stashed his truck, puts the girl in the passenger seat. Takes careful time to make it look like she had nodded off to sleep instead of being drugged. Climbed into the driver side still keeping the white ghoulish mask on until they where clear, a few minutes pass as he finally pulled out of the neighborhood and took the mask off. Keeps his eye on his back mirror checking ot be sure he wasn't being followed and also keeping hsi speed right at the limit.

Finally he pulls into the back part of the art building, turns the lights off as he withdraws a black tarp from behind the seats of his truck. Wraps the uncouncious girl in the tarp withdrawing another bag from the bed of his truck this one carrying what he needed for his next kill. Walked through the back door as he headed up the darkened stairs, all eyes would be on the gala event happening down stairs and not on the other rooms above as all the lights where out. Sets the girl down in chair wrapping duct tape around her legs securing her to the chair. Does likewise with her hands, the drug he gave her would keep her out for a good while to come. Places the jumpsuit, mask and gloves on a nearby table next to the camera now hooked into the projector of the main room where the auction was set to begin. A smile comes to his face as he sees the words on the computer screen "Connection Completed".

Krista waved to Jesse as he drove off. He was acting a little odd lately, she noted as she walked up the stairs into the building. First the kiss in the cell this morning and now he was telling her that he loved her. She shook it off when she pushed opened the glass doors and went inside. She was surprised at the sheer number of people bustling around. They were everywhere; caterers and event coordinators running back and forth and in the center of it was her professor looking like he was going to have a coronary at any moment. He caught sight of her and waved her over. "Where have you been?!" Krista quickly decided that telling the truth was probably not the best answer at the moment. "You know, I had a late night last night. What are you stressing about, everything is ready. We have done this already remember?" He grunted in response. "You did remember to get a dress, that qualifies as formal?" She thought about the dress that she had ordered and wondered if her definition was the same as his, but shrugged. "Yeah, its floor length. I won't disappoint, promise. Did you need me for anything specifically or were you just panicking and I was the person you could call 8 times?" He shook his head. "No its fine now, I worked it out. You, on the other hand, need to go home and get cleaned up."

Krista didn't need to be told twice. She said her farewells and head back out the door and back to her apartment. She went inside and not surprising, Emma wasn't there. She probably had to work today. She went straight for her room and then the bathroom, stripping off her dirty clothes, leaving them in a trail across the apartment. She got in the shower, turning the water as hot as she could possible stand it. It felt good to wash away all the dirt and it also felt good on her still mostly sore body.

When she finally got out of the shower, she realized that she had been in there for over an hour, but she still have plenty of time. With a towel wrapped around her frame, she carefully applied her makeup. She blinked at her reflection with a little surprise. She was used to painting canvases and not her own face. She rarely wore make up at all, but it wasn't half bad.

In her bedroom, on the closet door, hung her dress. It was a long black satin dress with a very low back and slits up to the thighs on both sides. The most distinguishing feature of the dress and her favorite part were the bright red bondage straps and silver buckles that essentially kept the dress together. She couldn't have shown up in a normal dress - she was an artist after all. She slid into the dress carefully and adjusting the straps in the mirror. She smiled, pleased with the look. The material clung to her in all the right places and the slits went to about mid thigh. She had also found boots that completed the look.

She caught a glimpse of the clock - crap, it was almost 6. She hurried and finished getting ready and jotted a quick note for Emma, just in case she came home while she was out and stuck an invite and the note on the fridge. She locked the door to the apartment and headed as quickly as she could back to the gallery.

The gallery looked fantastic. All of the chaos had settled and there was quiet music playing on the speaker system. She was in complete awe, it was so different than the school's opening night. This was so much more like a really gallery opening. A waiter came by and offered her a glass of wine and she took it thanking him. She might as well, it was her show after all. There were not any guests yet, but they would be coming soon. She walked through the gallery for one last time by herself before people would begin to arrive.

"We weren't able to get much out of him other than a foul attitude it seems." Rob told Dean not long after his questioning. Dean bit his lip, thinking. He ran a quick hand through his hair before leaning backwards in the chair with a sigh.

"I know it's him, it's just a matter of time before we catch him in action. Or he screws up big time. Either way, we have him but we don't." Though the last set of words were cryptic, Rob understood them perfectly. They knew they had their man, but there was no evidence to support that case. All they had now was time, and little by little it was running out.

"You have a list of all those in the riot, right?" Rob nodded, handing Dean the file he had asked for. Quickly filtering through it, he easily placed a mental note on all that had been attacked and killed. There was only one left in the folder. This was it, it had to be now or never. Pulling the person's file, he handed it to Rob.

"You know what to do." Rob left the room and quickly put out an APB on Jesse with a picture, just to watch his movements, and sent a picture the other person. This person was to be watched for, protected, but they had to do it secretly, or all would be lost. It wasn't long until they got word back that the suspect had dropped off a young lady at the art gallery and headed back to his home.

"Good, keep a watch on him there. He might try sneaking out, so be vigilant." Dean walked up to Rob, asking him if there was anything new. He only gave him the information as he knew it, even letting him know that Krista was at the gallery. Quickly Dean remembered the show that was going on that night. He had already previously bough tickets to go, but he wasn't sure whether to show up or not given last night's situation. Once Rob saw the flustered look on Dean's face, he quickly grinned and nudged him.

"You should go. I mean, it's not often that someone like us gets to have fun while on the job right? Besides, you can just call it a 'guard job' if you need." Dean quickly smiled at him and thumped him hard on the back with a thanks.

"Don't mention it, just don't do anything that I wouldn't." Dean was quick in his response.

"And what might that be? I've never known you to 'not' do something." Rob chuckled and shoved him out the door.

"Yea yea, go and have all the fun while you leave the work to me." Dean only caught half off it before the engine of his car cut Rob off. He had only been here a week, living out of a small suit case. One thing he had not had though was anything formal, which he hadn't really expected he would need. With that being the case, and this being a formal affair, he quickly headed into town to find a tux on short order. He hoped he would be lucky enough to find one so fast.

"Well then might have to drop by and check you out in this dress myself then babe". Got into his truck as he hauled out, constantly keeping an eye on his mirror checking behind him. He was sure the police would be following either him or Krista now. A little while passes by as he finally pulls into the art building stopping in it's front, "Best of luck tonight Krista, I will try to come by if my work will let me". The last three words he says somewhat shyly and quickly, "Love you babe", left the art building heading for his dorm as he needed to gather his gear for the work that layed ahead of him tonight. Perhaps the art gallery could use a bit of his handiwork for it's galleries, slowly the idea formed in his insane filled mind.

Time passed by, as he looked at the clock on his desk, nearly time to go snatch his prey. The mask and the jumpsuit tucked inside the gym bag he had slung on his shoulder as he left his dorm complex. His prey lived a fair 20 minutes away from the school so it wouldn't be hard to get her back into the school before the surely stepped up patrols for the curfew tonight would start. The art gallery he thought bringing a smile to his face as he climbed into his truck, would surely be in for a treat this evening.

Krista finished signing all the forms at the lock up desk so that she could get her bag and all its contents back. The clerk pushed the bag across the counter and Krista pulled the messenger bag's strap over over head so the bag itself rested at her thigh. She dug through the bag until she found her cell and flipped through the missed calls and messages. There were several from the art director, probably about the event tonight. She smiled to herself, imagining him in a full out panic because he couldn't reach her. She really wanted to go home first and get a shower, food, and sleep, but she resigned to go there first and find out what the tizzy was about. She typed a quick text that she was on her way and shoved the phone into her pocket.

Krista squinted as they walked into the fresh morning air and sunshine. She took a deep breath and exhaled. She wrapped her arm around Jesse's and walked with him to his truck. "Yeah, I'll take that ride. Would you drop me at the art building? I need to check in on a few things for tonight. I did finally get everything back together and set up some new parts. I wish you could come tonight. they are making me wear a formal dress." She flashed a playful disgusted face and opened the passenger's side door and slid in.

Sat down next to Krista, putting his arm around her again. "Well cops are proving to be fun company aren't they girl?". Cheerful face looks into hers as he continued to sit with his arm around her. His thoughts though where focused on his task tonight more than neccesary caution would have to be used in killing his victim tonighyt. Hours pass finally the sunlight streaked into the cell, the rays of its light hitting his face as his right hand absent mindly stroked Krista's hair. The same thought now entering his mind, his time was drawing to its end and he knew it, whether the police caught him or he got away and fled like he'd originally planned he didn't have much longer left with her. Finally an officer came to their cell and said that they where free to go, gently helps Krista to her feet leading her down the cell block and out towards the front doors of the police station.

"Want me to give you a lift doll?". Gives her the smile he knew that she loved about him as he waits for her anwser.

Krista stared at the concrete wall in the cell, absentmindedly rubbing her lips where Jesse's had pressed against her own. They had known each other for so long and yet that type of intimate touch was so foreign to her. She had wanted to say something, respond somehow to him, but he pulled away so fast and shortly afterward another police officer removed him from the cell, probably to question him. A million questions were racing through her already exhausted mind while she sat alone in the cell. Why were the cops questioning Jesse? What would he say about her? Had he really felt like that all these years? Had she been slowly torturing him by flying through guys like they were clothes? Did she like the kiss? Did she want to try again? Then her mind wandered back to the kiss she had before. "Oh God, I need to sleep" she moaned and rubbed her eyes which had already begun to burn from fatigue.

Krista looked up when the bars of the cell slid open again and Jesse was led back inside. She could tell from the little amount of time that it took and his demeanor that it did not go well. She licked her lips and was going to say something, anything to break the tension, but decided against it, and prayed that morning would come as fast as it had ever come before. She did not like jail at all!

Jesse was taken out of the cell, casting a look back at Krista he wasn't sure about this but either way he had to make it through the interrogation that was surely coming. The police lead him into a room and sat him down in a chair across a bare table from another empty chair as he waited for another cop to come into the room.

Rob entered the interrogation room, following Dean's orders to the T on this. Sitting down, across from Jess, he sat down a cup of coffee for the each of them. "For the record, could we start off first with your full name, and what you were doing out tonight?"

Only a harsh reply comes out of Jesse as he anwsers the cop's question "Lawyer".

Rob's brows furrow, and he looks over at the other cop, standing behind Jess. "Well, I really doubt there is a reason to need a lawyer just for stating your name. If you want to come to terms like that, then we can always hold you here longer as we wait for one to become appointed to you."

" My name is Jesse Wells and i will not be talking anymore till you get me an attorney. You can only hold me for 24 hours without charging me so don't kid me sir".

"Very well, but this lack of cooperation will be noted, and you are right, we can only hold you for 24 hours, but under circumstances such as these, with a murdered gong around, we are allowed to hold you for an extra 12 hours."

"I cooperated with you cops when Krista was assaulted and where did it get her? Nothing you couldn't even nab one of the people responsible". Eyes look right into the cop's as the anger within him begins to well up, this cop was triggering it and he was trying his best to keep it in check.

"Well, to be honest I wasn't here, so I can't be held responsible for it. As far as those that hurt her, they were fined for the damage and riot." Rob nods for the officer to leave the room. "Is that better?"

"Fined ohhh such a bad punishment". Sarcasm filled his statement as he continued to sit there with his arms crossed looking at the cop. "Now either get me my lawyer or leave I haven't done anything and I'd like to leave this police station".

Rob was doing his best to quell his own anger, because with every right, he could hold this man for as long as he wanted, but it being Dean's request, he wasn't about to push it. "Very well." Rob went to the door and left, seeing whether they were able to get a lawyer at this hour or not.

Jesse sat there with his crossed arms letting inside his mind his anger wear down. The police had nothing on him and they couldn't hold him he would claim his next victim soon enough he wouldn't be spending much more time in the cell nor would Krista.

"Well Dean, what do you want me to do? Hold him and get him a lawyer, or release him?" Dean stood there staring at Jess through the mirror, thinking hard.

"We'll, if we keep him, he might be released on a technicality, and we might loose our murderer. Instead, release him. We will keep an eye on him until we have enough evidence to keep him." Rob nodded is head, then left the room to return back to Jess.

"Well, we weren't able to find you a lawyer at this hour, so instead we will release you in the morning with Krista."

Only this grim reply comes from Jesse as he rises to walk back to his and Krista's cell, "Thanks Pig".

Rob motions for the officer to escort him back to the cell.

"When we get out of this cell and this station, you will see what I'm talking about Krista". Then plants a quick kiss on her lips as he now rested his head back against the stone wall of the cell. God, he thought he'd been wanting to do that for years and it was probrbaly the only time he wouold get to despite how well he had been covering his tracks, he couldn't ignore that the feeling of his time coming to it's end was drawing near. Inside his mind he begins to mentally go over his plan for claiming the next victim, she would get hoem tonight at 10pm, he knew how to get into the house quietly having already scoped the place out. The image of the white ghoulish mask suddenly filling his mind, causing him to silently utter a regret of having to leave Krista like he was going to have to soon.

The sound of approaching footsteps causes his gaze to turn towards their shared cell door.

Krista barely opened her eyes when Jesse sighed and began speaking. Her body was screaming for sleep. The adrenaline had begun fading and the remnants of her hangover were threatening to take back over. She felt like she had been running for days and at this point she really had been. Krista was finding it increasingly harder to concentrate on her surroundings and Jesse's even and soothing voice was lulling her into a relaxed state, just like he had done so many times before.

She remembered waking up in the emergency room and being completely overwhelmed in pain, but there was Jesse, holding her hand despite doctors' insistent demands to leave and whispering in her ear that everything was going to be okay. Each time she had opened her eyes, he was there by her side, holding her hand and just talking, even if it was about nothing at all.

Jesse's words finally registered and Krista raised her head and stared at her friend. Her eyes searched his expression, trying to discern what he was talking about, but he showed nothing. She realized that her mouth had opened like she was going to speak, but there were no words there. This was her Jesse. He looked and acted like he always did, what could be changing. Confusion and fatigue muddled her brain and the knots in her stomach were beginning to return. "Jesse" she began slowly and very quietly, barely above a whisper, "What changes are you talking about? I don't know what to say."
