Nuku Nuku TV 1-4
synopsis by Jareth David (from J.U.R.A.I.'s Necronomicon 1998 Anime Guide)
What do you do when you have a hilarious hit OAV series after you finish counting the money? If you own the license to Nuku Nuku you completely revamp it as a parody of anime & sentai shows, botch the character designs, add annoying new characters like one that constantly breaks into song (Paul Enka is my nickname for this goof), & target it at 8 year olds hoping they’re not sophisticated enough to spot your ruse. As a big fan of the 6 OAVs, I had high hopes for Nuku TV (I can only hope I’m missing something in the translation otherwise it’s the worst sequel since Mortal Kombat Abomination). This TV series (set in the year 2013 in Maneki City) only lasted 12 episodes (I assume the ‘creative’ staff realized they’d dishonored their families and borrowed the ceremonial sword that Nodoka Saotome carries with her. Hopefully they’ll return to the old format for the upcoming Nuku Nuku Dash OAVs. Poor Megumi Hayashibara, her music is the only reason to waste time watching this series.
