Supposedly, this is a parody of an earlier samurai show called Su-ronin Tsukikage Hyoga. Ran Tsukikage is a wandering female samurai during the Edo period. Her afternoon nap is disturbed by Larry-san, Moe-san & Curly-san (not their actual names). They’re members of the Bonsai family (yes, that’s their real name) which lost their land to the Benitsubaki, a family of swindlers, through fraudulent gambling. Now they need someone strong to save the town from these extortionists. Miao, a wandering martial artist may be willing to lend them her assistance in the name of justice. Will the Benitsubaki’s Yojimbo be able to exploit Ran’s weakness for sake? The enka OP theme song reminds me of a restaurant we used to frequent…before I worked there (and had to escape with what remained of my sanity). |
