Ima, Soku Ni Iru Boku TV 1-3
(Now & Then, Here & There)
synopsis by Jareth David
(from J.U.R.A.I.'s Necronomicon 2001 Anime Guide)
This starts off as such a nice quiet peaceful rather unengaging anime about Shuu a student from the make-it-up-as-you-go-along school of Kendo…until Lalaru’s captors show up. Then things become about as pleasant as that movie "Closetland". Lalaru has escaped from an alternate world which Shuu must now save maybe (sound familiar). Turns out Lalaru is VERY important to the survival of Hellywood, the evil nation-state run by twisted psychopath dictator Hamdo who uses kidnapped children as soldiers & a giant photon cannon for his dreams of conquest. Sadly, this is one of those great little series that gets overlooked by mainstream anime fans. I’m buying the 3 domestic DVDs when they come out next year (they're now available, go buy them).
Parental Note: This is a great anti-war anime and gives people a lot to think about, but it has some scenes which may be disturbing for younger viewers. |
