Gingyo Chui Hou TV (Goldfish Warning)
synopsis by Jareth David (from J.U.R.A.I.'s Necronomicon 1998 Anime Guide)
Targeted at a pre-teen audience, this really strange TV series (like Urusei Yatsura) ran for 56 episodes. Chitose has been kicked out of Tokaino Jr. High for no longer being wealthy & ends up at Shininaka Jr. High, the poverty stricken country bumpkin school. Even farm animals attend classes (the bulls appear to be the ‘bullies’). When Tanakayama (the family lawyer) tries to steal her only possession, Gyopi, the world’s only flying, potato chip-addicted, pink goldfish (who’s worth a fortune), they find a key to a deposit box containing a large inheritance he tried to steal from her. She invests the money into improving her new school & appoints herself as head of students. Thus begins her plot to convince everyone to try to crush her old school rivals. We’re just showing a random episode since I don’t have the beginning of the series. The same TV staff later worked on Sailor Moon TV series, hence the first season of Sailor Moon has several Gingyo Chui Hou in-jokes.
