Christmas in January OAV
synopsis by Jareth David
(from J.U.R.A.I.'s Necronomicon 1999 Anime Guide)

Junsho Fujioka consoles his broken-hearted co-worker Bouya at the White Wood shoe store where he works part time. Bouya comments how lucky Junsho is to not be affected by romantic entanglements, unaware that Junsho has been desperately and silently in love with his childhood friend Seiko (who in turn has yet to admit her feelings for him). This sets the stage for a sweet little story where we wonder when these two people, who seem destined for each other, will finally take some steps towards fulfilling their hearts’ desire. Of course, this wouldn’t be a shojo anime without someone else being added to the equation to provide some conflict. Cue the entrance of Mizuka Tateno--a rude, diminutive girl (with a deceptively youthful air about her) who prefers to remain detached from others due to some serious familial problems. She lives all alone in a dreamlike, yet dark, cold, barren house next door to the Fujiokas’ temple. What are the mysteries surrounding her past (or her present for that matter)…and how might her interest in Jusho affect his future? A really tender, heart-wrenching OAV. Interesting voice casting choices puts Ranma & Akane at odds once again as Seiko is voiced by Noriko Hidaka, while the lovely and talented Megumi Hayashibara plays Mizuka.
