Mezzo Forte
synopsis by Jareth David (from J.U.R.A.I.'s Necronomicon 2001 Anime Guide)
This is the rather violent 2 part OAV series pseudo-sequel to Yasuomi Umetsu’s ever-popular "Kite". Plus, it has the best bowling alley sequences this side of The Big Lebowski! What more could you want? The cool hi-tech weapons are there just like in Kite, as are the ever present LupinIII/Roadrunner physics. The plot is simple: violent assassin types right out of a Luc Besson film fight other violent thugs, add a kidnapping plot involving a crime boss, add violence, add 2 very well-designed female characters, add violence, add guns, add blood, add more violence, shaken not stirred (you’ve seen Kite, you know you’d rather have it shaken than stirred, just admit it). If you're into films about mosbters and hit men you probably want to watch it, just don’t ask your mom to buy you the dvd for Christmas. Shown in raw Japanese, cuz it’s not out subtitled for a couple more weeks.
Parental note: Aside from heavy amounts of violence, this series also has some strong sexual content and is absolutely not for children! (especially the UNCUT 'director's cut' version which has some scenes that most adults would find very disturbing)
