Gotta combine with ‘em all! Yet another ‘ordinary Japanese high scool student’ learns she is chosen to become a magical girl. Alcoholic father remarried & forced you to move into a big mansion with your new stepsister who’s about as friendly as Nanami Touga and your snobbish classmates hate you, something good has to happen eventually, right? Himeno meets some new friends in the park. She may be using them, but they’re happy about it, they’re tripping over each other to be next in line (much like the procession of cookie cutter boyfriends some girls have). Only here it’s a good thing. They’re all Leafe Knights sworn to like protect the environment from Fenrir and Mayouchu or something. She becomes one with the Force, I mean Leafe, differently depending on which person she merges with. Each one gives her access to other elemental powers and a spiffy new outfit faster than you can say toy company marketing ploy (at least they have better powers than the Aasu sisters). Leafe Knights act as a shield & take the damage from enemies trying to harm her when she’s Pretear. Of course there’s always one person in the group who won’t play nice (maybe because he knows how much his past mistakes have cost others). Possibly the best new majoko series since Card Captor Sakura...too bad this one only runs 13 episodes. |
